Physiotherapy Home Visits
Physiotherapy delivered to you in your home is the perfect solution if you have mobility issues, are not available during office hours or would rather not attend a clinic, for whatever reason.
A consent for assessment and treatment is completed in compliance with the College of Physical Therapists of BC (CPTBC) guidelines.
The initial session consists of an in-home interview, assessment, treatment and “homework”. Written information is provided when appropriate.
Electrotherapy modalities i.e. Ultrasound and Electrical Stimulation devices are available for use during the visit when appropriate.
Home visits usually take up to 45 minutes.
Written or verbal communication with your physician or employer can be provided but this would only be done with your consent.
WorkSafe BC will approve billings for home physiotherapy visits upon pre-approval.
Physiotherapy Facility Visits
Physiotherapy visits can also be provided in long term care facilities.
Clients are provided with 1:1 sessions which may consist manual treatment, exercise, activities to music or mobility training to enhance their quality of life. Visits to private and IHA facilities can be provided. Our providers meet the approval process required for visits to clients in IHA facilities.
Hydrotherapy Sessions
Clients are provided with instructional sessions in the Penticton Community Centre Pool. A written exercise program is provided after the session, when appropriate.
Telehealth Online Physiotherapy
This is defined as “The delivery of physiotherapy services via telecommunication technology”.
This idea was born from a long history of providing long distance physiotherapy to my sisters and nieces in England, Switzerland and Scotland!
This is how it works:
A consent for assessment and treatment (scanned or
electronic) is completed before the session in compliance with the College of Physical Therapists of BC (CPTBC) guidelines.
A mobile phone, computer or tablet is required to deliver telehealth sessions.
This process usually involves the patient being asked to demonstrate movements to assess range of motion, strength and function.
Patient safety is ensured during this process by having a support person on hand during the assessment, when appropriate. It is also suggested that a second piece of
technology (phone) is in place should the device being used fail.
Exercise prescription. Exercises are taught during the session or the Physitrack virtual platform is used.
Advice regarding self management and activity modification is provided.
The consultation is followed up via e-mail with written
instructions/exercise programs or videos when appropriate. A Physitrack virtual exercise program may also be provided.
Follow up sessions to monitor, answer questions or to
progress treatment can be provided when requested.
Written or verbal consultation with the patient’s
employer or medical team can be provided but this would only be done with the patient’s consent.
Face to face interview and assessment using Zoom or
Physitrack platforms. These products comply with IT security and Canadian data protection regulations.
